On a bike tour riding a century--100 miles in one day-- is an elusive goal. It never happens on a day you set aside to accomplish the task. Rather, they arise out of days in which more, not less, things seem to go wrong. Perhaps it is this very difficulty that stirs something within that calls upon the cyclist to keep pushing, until they realize they are so close to a century. This trip was no different.
